Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes {from Contributor Angela}
Hi there!!! I’m Angela from LeMoine Family Kitchen and I am super excited to be here on TheCraftingNook to share a recipe with all of you. How fantastic do these Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes look?!
I am a potato lover; baked, fried, mashed are all good to me. I love mashed potatoes because you can really be creative with them and honestly, the possibilities are endless!
Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes from Contributor Angela
These Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes are really simple to make and make for a really perfect side dish for just about anything.
Here’s what’s so great, there are just a handful of ingredients on hand but have great flavor. The buttermilk adds just a little tang and of course, there’s also plenty of butter which makes things just that much better. Simply seasoned with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Ok, so you may also have noticed the fabulous cheesy topping on those mashed potatoes. Growing up my mom always made a big pot of mash and then topped it with mozzarella, popped under the broiler until golden and bubbly. I absolutely LOVE the melted cheese on top!
Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 3 lbs red potatoes cut in half
- 3 tsp garlic powder
- 6 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- sliced fresh mozzarella
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Place the potatoes into a pot {oven safe pot} of cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork tender. Drain and put back into the pot.
-
With the flame on low, add in the butter, garlic powder, buttermilk, salt and pepper. Mash until you’ve reached the texture you prefer. I leave mine with a little bit of chunk.
-
Add a layer of sliced fresh mozzarella on top of the mash and place under the broiler until golden.
