3 Step Spaghetti Pie

With back to school around the corner, nights are going to get crazy busy. 3 Step Spaghetti Pie will help you make a great dinner on a busy night!
3 Step Spaghetti Pie {from Contributor Chandra}
Everybody loves spaghetti! Growing up we had close family friends that introduced us to spaghetti pie. I can still remember as a little girl sitting in their kitchen asking for seconds! As a matter of fact we still have the original recipe card. The recipe is typed neatly on a little strawberry recipe card.
For this recipe I simplified it for a busy weeknight dinner. Now you can have our family favorite in 3 easy steps. Spaghetti Pie will be your family favorite also!
Ingredients
- Ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Garlic powder
- Oregano
- Spaghetti pasta
- Favorite spaghetti sauce
- Egg beaten
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Cottage cheese
- Shredded mozzarella
Step one: Boil Noodles and brown ground beef. Now I know that you are going to say that is 2 different actions. I am including them as one step as you can brown the beef and season it while the noodles are cooking. This is all about making dinner easy. One of my time saving tricks is to multi task. There is no need to boil noodles first then when done brown the meat.
Doing 2 things at once adds up to be a great time saver!
Step 2: Mixing it all up. The sauce will go into the beef and the noodles get the eggs and parmesan. This makes the crust and the cheese and eggs bind the noodles together to make a stable bottom. That and it adds a creamy goodness to the dish.
Step 3: Layer and bake! Noodle mixture on the bottom, then cottage cheese (more creamy goodness), then the meat and finally the mozzarella. Bake and in 30 min you have a great dinner! For a quicker meal when everyone is busy running around and hungry you can prepare the night before or earlier in the day, then just pop it in the oven for dinner. Bake for 30 min on 350 or until cheese is all melt and turning brown.
3 Step Spaghetti Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbs oregano
- 8 oz spaghetti pasta
- 2 cups favorite spaghetti sauce
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
Instructions
- grease a 9 in pie plate and set aside
- boil and drain pasta
- while pasta is cooking brown ground beef
- stir in seasonings
- pour in spaghetti sauce and bring to a boil
- reduce heat to med low and simmer 10 min
- meanwhile preheat oven to 350
- in a bowl mix pasta with egg and parmesan cheese
- place in pie plate as the “crust”
- pour meat mixture on top
- spread cottage cheese over the meat
- top with mozzarella
- bake for 30 min

Does this freeze well? I am preparing frozen meals for when my baby arrives, and I love this recipe, so I was wondering if it would work! I know I have had success with lasagna in the past. I freeze it after it is fully cooked and cooled.

What temperature did you bake it at? I do not see that.
