I made these delicious and cute orange and chocolate macarons for the very first time and I must say they turned out so tasty! I’ve always seen those yummy recipes out there. Seemed to me like a cookie sandwich filled with yummy cream or jelly and I really had no idea what they really were.
Orange and Chocolate Macarons
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Wholeport.com. All opinions are 100% mine.
Then I started to read many recipes and OMG I said to myself, “I have to make these soon”. The awesome part is that Wholeport {they are not longer in business sadly} sent me all the supplies I needed to make them and how could I not make them, right??? I also love those flavors together so I thought it would be a good idea to make orange and chocolate macarons.
If you don’t know what’s Wholeport, they are a Chinese craft supplier. They are a go-to place for finding the widest variety of affordable craft supplies online and they have been dedicated to ensure a quality crafting experience. In my opinion the products I’ve got so far are great. I received some really awesome baking products in the past and I made my popular “Nutella Stuffed Vanilla Cupcakes Topped with Chocolate Covered Strawberry” I’m very happy with my products and eager to bake more with them. If you have some time stop by and check their site out.
Ingredients:
- 3 Egg whites
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 1 1/4 cups Icing sugar
- 1 tsp of finely grated orange rind
- Orange food coloring
Chocolate cream
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1tbsp unsalted butter
- 4-5 tbsp of sweetened chocolate powder {like Nesquick}
Direction
With a mixer beat the egg whites in a small bowl until soft peaks form. Add caster sugar and a few drops of food coloring, mix until sugar dissolves.
Transfer the mixture to a larger bowl and fold in the icing sugar and orange rind.
Spoon mixture into the Pastry Tubes or piping bag. Pipe on the Silicone Mat for Macaron rounds about 4 cm {1 1/2 Inch}. I sprinkled some orange rind on top.
Tap trays on bench so macarons spread and get even look {I didn’t do this, but I got the tip from Anyonita Nibbles (wink)}.
Stand for about 30 minutes.
In the meantime, pre-heat the oven to 150ºC/300ºF and make the cream.
In a small pan over low heat mix condensed milk, butter and chocolate with a whisk. Keep whisking constantly until it thickens. It should have the texture of a custard and when it cools it gets even thicker. Turn off the heat.
Bake macarons for about 15-20 minutes and cool on trays. I used my new cute oven mitts to hold the trays!
Sandwich macarons with chocolate cream.
Serve and enjoy!
If you like the tools and supplies I used to make these macarons, you can stop by Wholeport.com and take a look. They have all sorts of baking supplies. They also offer a variety of tools and supplies for crafts, jewelry, handmade soaps, fabrics, ceramic & pottery, embroidery, packaging and much more at very good prices. Even though I’m a crafter I’m in love with all the bakery products they have. One of my favorite products was {apart from the cupcake stand I’ve featured many times on my recipes} the icing bag and my oven mitts LOL. Oh the cupcakes baking cups design are so cute. And last but not least. They have a large variety of these products. It was really hard to choose. I can’t wait to order some more.
Here you have them, orange and chocolate macarons, not bad for a first time huh? Have you made macarons before???

Oh my gosh!! I have been wanting to make macarons forever but the crazy instructions for the circles seems so fussy. I love these mats! Definitely adding to my Wish List!
