Easy Strawberry Pina Colada Recipe

Let’s be honest what do you do when you live in a place where cold weather is the normal most of the year? Sometimes it gets warmer but is usually colder LOL. Dream about summer and give yourself a bit of summer flavor even if that means drinking something cold. Isn’t that, right?

Actually, any opportunity we get when the sun comes out and warms up a bit, I can’t help the need to make something fresh! This strawberry pina colada is SO super easy to make and it’s SO SO good.

The other day, I stumbled upon a box of gorgeous ripe, juicy strawberries at my local farmer’s market. They were so tempting, I just couldn’t resist bringing them home.

As I stared at the luscious red berries, an idea struck me: what if I could infuse their sweet, tangy flavor into a Piña Colada? It seemed like the perfect match, a match made in cocktail heaven!

So, armed with my blender and a sense of adventure, I set out to create the ultimate strawberry Piña Colada. I gathered the necessary ingredients – fresh strawberries, pineapple chunks, condensed milk, coconut cream, rum, and a handful of ice cubes – and got to work.

The excitement was palpable as I imagined the delightful combination of tropical pineapple and the irresistible allure of strawberries, all blended into a smooth and creamy drink.

As I poured the ingredients into the blender and hit the power button, a whirlwind of aromas filled the kitchen. The fruity fragrance of the strawberries mingled with the tropical essence of the pineapple, creating a scent that made my mouth water in anticipation.

Recipe Tips

  • Instead of using fresh strawberries, try freezing them beforehand. Frozen strawberries not only add a delightful chill to your Piña Colada but also act as natural ice cubes, preventing your drink from getting watered down. Plus, they lend a thicker consistency to the cocktail.
  • Take your glass presentation to the next level by rimming the edges with toasted coconut flakes. Simply spread some coconut flakes on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven until golden brown. Dip the rim of your glass in a shallow plate of honey or simple syrup, then roll it in the toasted coconut. It adds a delightful tropical touch to your sips.
  • If you want to intensify the coconut flavor in your Piña Colada without diluting it, freeze some coconut water into ice cubes. Drop a couple of these coconut water cubes into your drink, and as they slowly melt, they’ll infuse the cocktail with extra coconut goodness.
  • Don’t toss those pineapple leaves! After slicing off the crown of a fresh pineapple, save a few of the long, green leaves. Wash them thoroughly, and once your Piña Colada is ready, insert a couple of leaves into the drink as a stylish and eye-catching garnish. It’s a simple yet impressive detail that will make your guests go “wow!”.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones?

Absolutely! Frozen strawberries or frozen fruit for that matter work just as well. In fact, they bring an extra chill to your Piña Colada and act as natural ice cubes, preventing your drink from becoming watered down. Just make sure to thaw them slightly before blending.

Do I have to use rum in my Piña Colada?

Not at all! If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, you can simply omit the rum. The combination of strawberries, pineapple, and coconut cream will still create a luscious and tropical drink that’s perfect for all ages to enjoy.

Can I substitute coconut cream with coconut milk?

You sure can! Coconut milk works as a suitable substitute for coconut cream. Keep in mind that coconut milk is a bit lighter in texture, so your Piña Colada may have a slightly less creamy consistency. But don’t worry, the tropical flavors will still shine through.

Can I make a large batch of Piña Colada ahead of time for a party?

While it’s best to enjoy Piña Coladas fresh and that’s what I would recommend, you can certainly prepare a larger batch in advance. Store the mixture in a covered container in the refrigerator, and give it a stir every now and then and then a good stir before serving to ensure all the flavors are well incorporated. Just be mindful that the texture might change slightly, so you may want to blend it briefly before serving.

How can I make my Piña Colada look more appealing for presentation?

Get creative with your garnishes! Try adding a slice of fresh pineapple, a sprig of mint, or even a colorful paper umbrella to your glass. It’s all about adding a touch of visual flair and making your Piña Colada feel like a tropical work of art.
