Cozy Rustic Christmas Home Tour 2016

I must say, today is a special day for me. Last year I decorated my mom’s whole house for Christmas. Some decorations were handmade, other she already got and some she bought so I could finish the ideas I had. This year I got to decorate my own place. How exciting is that? After a few years with such a hard time for me and my family I was so desiring this moment. Our home, our decor and our Christmas. Today I’m please to share with you our Cozy Rustic Christmas Home Tour 2016.

Cozy Rustic Christmas Home Tour 2016

Ok so, As I’ve mentioned on previous posts, I moved to a new country and I had to start from scratch. I couldn’t decorate every corner of my apartment as I would have loved to, so I focused on specific places like front door, entryway table and living room.

Maybe next year I can expand it to my office and even why not, my bedroom. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I enjoy every second of it.

My decoration is not like huge or anything but it’s special because I made myself most ornaments and decoration elements. Some are already posted as tutorials so you can check them out. Others I’ll give tips of how I made them here and will post soon enough… hopefully.

It’s hard to believe, it’s already December. This year went by so fast. In some ways I’m thankful for that because lot’s of cycles are closing and I’m ready for new positive ones. I’m thankful for everything I’ve accomplished this year. I’ve learned so many positive things and I’m ready to let go of everything negative to embrace a pretty and productive new year!

So, wanna see my humble home? Hope so! My apartment is small, very old European style for sure. Not my favorite but it’s our home for now and most importantly it’s ours!

Let’s start you the Cozy Rustic Christmas Home Tour 2016

This is our front door.

I made the wreath out of a pool noodle and used a lot of burlap LOL. If you like it you can check it out HERE.

Then you have my entryway table.

Please mind my camera in the mirrors. The space is so small that I didn’t have much choices to take the photos.

I made a table runner with white burlap. Th easiest possible. Just folded the whole piece, sew 3 sides leaving a small opening, turned it inside out and closed the opening. Pressed it and straight to the table!

The vases were already in this apartment so I just filled them with branches and twigs with pinecones. Placed these two cute fellas on stairs. I love them and they were on sale so it’s a win.

Just like I made our rustic monogram ornaments, I made the word snow. The letters were already white so I just sanded each letter to distress them. Then I glued them together putting ones in front of others so they would stand by itself.

I bought these cute trees also on sale and I thought they would look so cute with the snow letters.

Also I got this wooden crate to have a place for the keys.

I had made that cute printable that says “Believe in the Magic of Christmas” so I framed it and placed it in the back. Like the Printable? Grab yours HERE. There are 4 designs to choose from.

The last but not least detail was the pompom garland. I so loved how the tree pompom garland turned out that I had to make one for my entryway table too. You can find the tutorial HERE.

Now The Living Room

I decorated the living room door {yes here living room is treated like any room with doors LOL}

I made a pretty Christmas garland using greenery, battery-powered lights, burlap ribbon, plaid ribbon, ornaments and those gorgeous bells!!!

I just prep the ribbons by twisting an eight inch piece of wire around the ribbon every 8-10 inches alternating plaid and burlap. Put the lights making sure that the battery case would end hidden among the branches. Then added all of the cute ornaments. In the middle I pout the largest bell and the the other two on each end of the garland.

Want to see what’s IN the living room?

Then when you enter the living room this is it!

As I said it’s small so I had a hard time re-arranging furniture so it would look cozy and homey as well as functional LOL. All the furniture in the apartment belongs to the apartment so even though those are not my favorite, I must say they are vintage indeed LOL. I definitely would prefer rustic ones or lighter ones.

Anyway, one of the first things people see when they come in is the pallet with the stockings. my hubby found that pallet thrown away and brought it home! I thought it would be perfect for stockings since we don’t have a mantel here. I got those stocking on a store along with the Christmas hats and the wooden ornaments. The star would be me, the heart would be Em and the tree would be hubby.

Right next to it on the floor I put a basked that I found next to a trash bin. It was perfect, not sure why would someone throw that away but good because I found it! Anyway, I used it to put our blankets there. If you see the living room you will notice that I’m a bit obsessed with those cozy delicious fleece blankets so I’ve got quite some this year.

The one you see on the large sofa is handmade. I bought the fleece fabric and sew a hem on the edges and that’s it!

As you go closer to the sofa, you can see all the pillows. Yup, I made those too. I got some pretty fabrics and made a bunch of pillowcases. I made some with zipper and some envelope ones. The tutorial for the zipper pillowcases will be posted soon. For envelope pillowcases tutorial you can check HERE.

I also made a couple cute painted reindeer rustic pillowcases. They are looking at each other with their sparkly red noses. I loved how they turned out even though the gold paint turned out too light. I still love them though!  The full tutorial will come too very soon.

I put one blanket on each sofa with some pillows. My favorite spot is the one with plaid throw one next to the tree.

And there is my gorgeous rustic Christmas Tree with most of the ornaments handmade and so FULL of love.

On the coffee table is my cute rustic Christmas lantern centerpiece.

If you are wondering what’s up with the footprints, that’s something we made for our girl. Santa’s elves came to pick up her letter and she asked me not to remove them just yet.

The as you go back you see our dinner {rarely used may I say}.

I decorated it with a rustic burlap table runner. I might post the tutorial but not sure yet.

Then I decorated a vase with twine, ribbon and a spray. Then fill it with branches with pinecones and twigs. Next to it on both sides along the table runner I put 2 crates filled with pinecones and a battery-powered candle.

Then on the pantry I just put a burlap fabric with a decorated clay boot filled also with pinecones. Also a dish with dry leaves, pinecones and a battery-powered candle. Put some battery-powered lights around the shelves too.

Well that’s it! That’s my home decoration. Hope you like our Cozy Rustic Christmas Home Tour 2016 and that some of the things I made gave you some inspiration. I know it’s a late post but I couldn’t get it done any sooner but maybe a few last minute ideas might come from my home tour, right?

Well, I’ll leave you with some more photos from my Christmas home decoration. If you liked it I would lo appreciate if you could share the love. And if you have any ideas I would also love to hear them in comments!
