Black and White Buffalo Check Christmas Tree 2019
Our Black and White Buffalo Check Christmas Tree is Simple yet elegant and so fun to decorate this year! I love how ribbon can and a few handmade ornaments can easily help transform a tree like this into an elegant one.
Yayyyy It’s here! It’s here!!!! Better late than never, right? I know I’m so behind on posting even though my Christmas Tree has been up for weeks now. BUT I’m so excited, my home looks and smells like Christmas! Like most people, it’s my favorite time of the year and I get super giddy about all things Christmas (especially the decorating).
Our Elegant Black and White Buffalo Check Christmas Tree
What a huge difference it makes to have the Christmas Tree up! Oooh and so LOVE how it turned out this year! I’m thrilled and proud to present you our 2019 mostly handmade Black and White Christmas Tree!!!
Buffalo check is a big trend in winter and Christmas decorating this year, especially the Black and white. This black and white Christmas Tree does not disappoint with its trendy yet classic style.
As I have mentioned in the past, I moved to a new country a few years ago and we came with only a few bags and lots of hopes. One of my biggest goals has always been to have a really cozy and personal Christmas decor and I’m so happy that I have been able to accomplish it all these past years.
This year since I already had lots of handmade {and store bought} ornaments, I started working on the ornaments I wanted to make specially for the black and white theme of this year. It’s been so exciting. Every time I see the tree I feel so joyful and excited, so fun of full of joy and hopes. Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year and I always love for our Christmas Tree to be special.
I decided to choose for this year’s Christmas theme Black and white Buffalo check and I can’t be happier with how the decor turned out. It’s simple yet so pretty and elegant.
People often say my Christmas trees look like I’ve spent a fortune and the funny part is that I really haven’t, I am very frugal. In fact, I buy all my ornaments from past seasons on sale and make all by myself most of the ornaments you see.
I also re-use my handmade ornaments either tweaking them a bit or just as they are. There are so many ways to save on your decoration and don’t break our back each year.
What I do before anything else is putting the lights on all over the tree as I was placing each row of branches. This tree is BIG! It’s 7 feet and really leafy so I had to use about 1000 lights because my lights are led and are not as bright as the normal ones. I love it! LOL.
My next step was hanging the ribbon on the tree. I used 4 rolls of black and white buffalo check ribbon. The length will depend on each tree and how fluffy you want each segment but I segmented it would look random.
I started at the top of the tree adding the first strand towards the top of the tree, and then using green pipe cleaner I secured the ribbon on the branches.
Working my way down the tree with the ribbon I went finding the next good stopping point to secure the ribbon tightly around the branch. Also made twists to make them more natural.
Now it was time to hang the Ornaments!!! Woot!
I started with my most popular Christmas Ornament post: Rustic flocked pinecones. I switched the twine bow for a twine bow and look how pretty it looks!
Just like last year, I upcycled some baubles. I wrapped some ugly baubles with black and white buffalo check fabric, added a cute ribbon bow and is as good as new! Love how they turned out!
I also made this year these cute Buffalo Check Embroidery Hoop Ornaments and also the Monogrammed Embroidery Hoop Ornaments so I spread them around the tree.
I also used my cute burlap ornaments (only white the year), white, red and clear baubles. And of course, I could not leave behind my mini wooden signs. Especially the “Believe” one.
As centered as I could I placed a “Merry Christmas” wood sign.
Finally, as Christmas tree topper I used a wooden rustic star I found in a shop. I just love it. I wasn’t sure if I should go for a bow or a star but when I saw the star I fell in love with it.
As a Christmas tree skirt I used a piece of white fur fabric. I already had it from past years so what I did was cut on one side to be able to go around the tree’s base to cover the tree foot.
Around the Christmas tree I used a crate filled with a cozy blanket and pillows. Put my cute Wooden skates next to it and also my nativity right underneath the tree.
At night it looks so pretty and sparkling! My girl loved it so much.
I’ll be sharing more from the Christmas home decor soon so stay tuned!
Well, that’s it. That’s our Black and White Christmas Tree for this year and I hope you like it as much as we do. As imperfect as it can be, it’s perfect for us because we put so much love into it.
Okay, friends- I’m going to get back to my Christmas movies and enjoying my cozy decor. So Happy start to the holiday season!!! I’ll leave you with some more photos!
